Lessons and Curricula

These lessons have been developed to bring garden-based nutrition education and California standards-based social studies curriculum together. We believe that food history is an integral part of understanding culture and that experiential lessons in the garden and cooking classroom can encourage students to eat more healthily and deepen their understanding of past civilizations.

Including garden set-up, nutrition plans connected to seasonal planting, and motivational tips for physical activities with the class. Also includes links to other regional activities, recipes of the month, and physical activity ideas. "

For grades PreK-12. An extensive searchable online library of ag literacy related lessons. Great search function to find specific types of lessons

"For grades PreK-6. Cooking with Kids motivates and empowers elementary school students to develop healthy eating habits through hands-on learning with fresh, affordable foods from diverse cultural traditions. Through cooking classes and tasting classes, students explore varieties of foods using all of their senses, have fun, and exercise choice. Two cooking and 33 tasting classes available free to download with registration (free)."

Includes Lesson plans for grades K-12, as well as teacher resources, newsletters, student-teacher programs in California, and many other california based agrucultural education resources. For grades PreK-6. Interactive website made to help in building your own edible playground. Lesson plans in the kitchen and the classroom available. Includes multiple arts and crafts projects surrounding the garden for every season. Lessons on-line.

For grades 3-6. Nature's Partners is an inquiry learning-based curriculum for young people in the 3rd through the 6th grade.

For grades 2-6. Seed-Saving and Seed Study for Educators

A project guide for educators working with youth that integrates gardening with the arts.
